Programs Offered

Skating is a lifetime pleasure. We have members that are as young as 3 years old to Adult. We offer an enjoyable atmosphere with plenty of encouragement and fun. We have on-going registration and all fees are pro-rated. Our programs are recognized by all Skate Canada Skating Clubs.

CANSKATE
Fundamental skating lessons for all ages. Group lessons led by a qualified professional coach are included in the cost.

PRE-JUNIOR
Optional Program that includes Canskate PLUS extra ice and lesson time for skaters who have completed or almost completed Stage 4 and up. Participants must pay a group lesson fee (to be determined once the registration forms are in) Skaters will start to learn new & exciting freeskate moves and possibly even a solo.

JUNIOR
Skating lessons for graduates of the Canskate program. The program includes a portion of the lessons in a group situation by a qualified professional coach. Coaching staff will be pleased to provide details on supplemental group, semi-private, or private lessons.

INTERMEDIATE
Intermediate skaters are working on Skate Canada tests up to and including Junior Bronze freeskate, dance, and skills. Private or semi-private lessons are essential.

SENIOR
Senior skaters are working on at least two Skate Canada Senior Bronze or higher freeskate/dance and skills tests. Private or semi- private lessons are necessary at this level.

ADULT AND SYNCHRONIZED (precision)
We offer an Adult session where you can learn to skate or practice the skills you learned as a child. Lessons are included in this weekely session. Synchronized Skating is a team sport that involves groups of skaters performing routines to music. Various clubs offer synchronized skating from the beginning level to senior and Adults. Please contact Larry Rushton at 250-756-6151 if you would like more information about this type of program.

CERTIFIED PROGRAM ASSISTANTS
This important program allows our skaters to give something back to their club by helping with Canskate. Program assistants must be at least 11 years old and skating at the intermediate level or higher. They must attend a clinic at the beginning of the season. After volunteering 20 hours of instructing at Canskate sessions, the PA will start to earn credits that can be used within the club for that skater’s sessions, test fees, or competition fees. Returning program assistants must attend an upgrade clinic at the beginning of each season.

PA HELPERS
Mature young skaters may become PA helpers. They too must attend a clinic but they cannot accumulate volunteer credits until they are of age. For more information on these programs contact Larry Rushton at 250 756-6151. It is recommended that PA helpers attend the PA Clinic.
